Google announced the launch of a new feature within its Chrome browser named “Skills,” designed to streamline the interaction with the Gemini AI assistant. This feature enables users to save specific AI prompts and reuse them across various web tabs with a single click.

Common applications for this tool include modifying food recipes to fit specific diets or comparing product specifications during online shopping. Hafsa Ismail, Chrome’s Product Manager, stated that the new tool addresses the need to repeatedly type the same commands, offering instead the ability to save and execute frequently used instructions directly.

The rollout is currently underway for English-speaking desktop users. Access is granted by typing the “/” symbol within Gemini and selecting the compass icon. Saved commands can be pulled directly from chat history and are available across linked devices. Additionally, Google provides a library of ready-to-use “Skills” that users can customize.

This development aims to reduce the need for manual copying and pasting, automating repetitive tasks and enhancing the integration of the Gemini assistant into the browsing experience.
