سامسونج تعلن رسميًا إيقاف تطبيقها للرسائل منتصف 2026

Samsung announced that it will discontinue its native messaging application “Samsung Messages” by next July, fully transitioning to “Google Messages” as the default option on Galaxy devices. In an official notice published on its website, the company stated that the app will cease operations within the coming months, urging users to switch to “Google Messages” to obtain a messaging experience that is more consistent and integrated with the Android operating system.

This decision extends the growing cooperation between Samsung and Google over the past years, which has focused on expanding RCS support on Android. Samsung has already relied on “Google Messages” as the default application in its modern phones for several versions to unify the messaging mechanism and provide advanced features.

Google Messages offers several improvements compared to Samsung Messages, including AI-supported security tools to detect fraudulent messages, expanded support for the RCS standard allowing the transmission of high-quality images and videos, advanced group chats, and typing and read indicators. The application also includes smart features based on Gemini models, such as suggested replies, temporary message management, and support for working across multiple devices, synchronizing conversations between the phone, computer, and tablets.

Samsung noted that there may be issues during the transition, including a temporary disruption in RCS services and a lack of message synchronization with older Galaxy watches running on the Tizen operating system. Samsung seeks to abandon some of its own applications in favor of Google applications as part of a strategy aimed at reducing fragmentation and providing a more harmonized messaging system within the Android ecosystem.
