Snapchat announced the launch of a new feature named “AI Clips” within the Lens Studio platform, enabling developers to create and publish augmented reality and artificial intelligence lenses. The new feature allows converting a single image into a short video of five seconds using artificial intelligence templates, rather than relying on text-to-video tools. Once a lens is selected, the user can generate a personalized video based on their own photo.

Snapchat clarified that developers can design lenses that transform the user’s image into an interactive experience, such as walking on a beach, without needing external tools, allowing the creation and publishing of lenses within minutes. The feature supports both beginner and professional developers.

“AI Clips” is currently available to subscribers of the “Lens Studio +” service, which costs $9 monthly and grants access to exclusive lenses and augmented reality experiences, along with standard Snapchat Plus benefits. Developers participating in the “Lens+ Payouts” program can earn financial returns from the lenses they publish.

This announcement comes amid intensifying competition in the sector, as YouTube recently unveiled the “Reimagine” feature, which allows converting a single video frame into an eight-second clip using the user’s image. Concurrently, Snapchat revealed that users created nearly two trillion Snaps during 2025, underscoring the growing level of interaction on the platform.
