Intel released official test results for its new Core Ultra 200S Plus processors, highlighting significant performance gains in gaming and applications compared to competitors like AMD. The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus processor shows a 15% average improvement over the previous 265K model at 1080p resolution, with increases reaching up to 39% in certain games. It also outperforms the Core i7-14700K by 9% on average and the Core i9-14900K by 5%, all while being priced at $299.

In comparison with AMD, the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus achieves a 4% average lead over the Ryzen 7 9700X at the same price point of $299, though the more expensive Ryzen 7 9800X3D ($480) still offers higher raw performance. The Core Ultra 5 250K Plus recorded a 13% increase in gaming performance over the 245K model and matches the Ryzen 5 9600X ($199) in gaming while outperforming it in applications.

Overall, the top-tier processor achieved a 103% boost in multi-core performance, 130% in 3D content creation, and 75% in video rendering. It also excelled in professional applications, with gains up to 109% in specific tests. The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is priced at $299, and the 250K Plus at $199. Both are scheduled to launch on March 26, with new motherboards arriving shortly after. A potential drawback is that the LGA 1851 platform is expected to be replaced later this year, whereas AMD’s AM5 platform supports upgrades until 2027.
