Apple announced the launch of its new AirPods Max 2, featuring the new H2 chip and a suite of intelligent features powered by artificial intelligence, alongside significant improvements in noise cancellation and audio quality. The design remains consistent with the previous model, focusing primarily on internal hardware and signal processing enhancements. The new processor increases the efficiency of active noise cancellation by 1.5 times compared to the original 2020 model, while the Transparency mode aims to present ambient sound more naturally.

The headphones introduce several intelligent capabilities, including Adaptive Audio, which automatically adjusts noise cancellation and Transparency mode based on the surrounding environment. Conversation Awareness lowers the volume when the user speaks to someone nearby. Additionally, the Live Translation feature, supported by AI, translates speech in real-time during conversations, while Voice Isolation isolates the user’s voice during calls to minimize background noise.

Other upgrades include Personalized Volume, which adjusts sound levels based on the environment and user preferences over time, and gesture controls for Siri via head movements or nods. Regarding audio performance, the device uses a high dynamic range amplifier for clearer sound and improved spatial audio with reduced wireless latency. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.3 instead of 5.0, along with USB-C charging and support for high-resolution audio.

Battery life remains at 20 hours with active noise cancellation enabled. A new camera control feature allows users to press the Digital Crown to capture photos or start video recording on iPhones or iPads. The headphones will be available in five colors: blue, black, purple, brown, and orange, continuing to include the Smart Case. Pre-orders open on March 25 on Apple’s website, with a price tag of 550 dollars, matching the previous generation’s cost.
